_ Captiva Digital, LLC Frequently Asked Questions
About Captivimage Service

Why would I want to put my pictures on DVD?

Photographs printed on a paper medium can stain, tear or crease with handling, spoiling the memory recorded in that photograph. They can fade if exposed to sunlight. Clarity is lost if copies are made using an inferior scanner and printer on substandard photopaper. And they are inconvenient - cumbersome to carry around and hard to share in a large group.

We use premium-quality equipment to scan your photographs at high resolution. The photos on your Captivimage DVD retain the same clarity as in your original photograph. Images on DVD will never fade. They will make exact digital copies, perfect every time. They can be viewed over and over without tearing, creasing or staining like paper. And a Captivimage DVD offers the ultimate convenience ... Your entire photo collection fits on a single disc that you can take anywhere. You can enjoy your photos in the company of your family and friends, all at once, in your home or theirs. With the convenience of your remote control, you can easily move from one picture to the next with the click of a button.

What kind of photo images can you transfer to DVD?

Our standard processing is for 3.5"x5" and 4"x6" color prints, but we can process both color and black-and-white prints up to 8"x10" large. We can also process 35mm slides and digital images from various digital camera media. Call us to discuss your Captivimage requirements.

How will my photo collection be organized? Can I include a description with my pictures?

Although we provide a full photo conversion service, we cannot organize or annotate your collection for you. We need you to put the photos in the order you want them to appear.

You must provide a descriptive title for the collection, and that title will appear on the disc label and as the introduction to the photo slideshow. If you want to include a description with the photos, you need to provide the text or label to accompany the image.

Will my new CD disc play in my home CD player?

We test our DVDs in a variety of different players. Before we take your order, we will personally run a sample Captivimage DVD in your player to ensure proper operation and quality performance.

How many pictures fit on a DVD?

Depending on quality, we can fit up to 5,000 JPEG-compressed high definition video resolution scanned images on a single DVD. If needed, we can scan them at even higher resolutions, but the number of images that will fit on one DVD will be less.

How much does it cost to convert a photographic collection to DVD?

Our pricing varies, depending on any custom editing needs. Straight photo conversion is priced at a flat fee per photograph. Call us to discuss pricing of custom editing for image processing.
